Day 5
We had a very slight lie in today, meeting up at 9am for breakfast
We’d been warned it would be busy which is why we booked it but in fact it wasn’t too bad
This morning’s cultural experience was a trip to the Paradox Museum which sets out to bend your mind with optical illusions
This cat is in the same box, viewed from different angles
None of us quite got this right
This one was the weirdest serving suggestion ever
Whilst this one was Hattie’s dream - finally she was tall !!!
And last but not least, a game of where’s wally
There she is!!!!
When we finished it was absolutely hat-racking it down so we decided to retire to the hotel for an hour and think about where we were going to brave it for lunch in this terrible weather
I came up with a plan to go to a cafe in a shopping mall advertised as Oslo’s best bite - we walked round and round for ages until we realised it was the thing the tarpaulin was covering
Damn
So we wandered outside to find something to eat and stumbled across an Irish bar that happened to be showing the early premier league match
What are the chances???
I had Irish stew and Kieren really stunned me by not only ordering the fish and chips, but eating it all!!!
Joss had a mare by firstly knocking over a glass of cola so we all had to move and then when her fish and chips arrived, managed to squeeze the lemon so it soaked her iPhone instead of the fish
As I laughed she said it was as reliable an aim as men in the loo - I had to give her that….
After a lovely lunch we tried yet another mode of transport and went via the metro to watch Valengera play Narvik at ice hockey
It was a brilliant time that we all enjoyed, none more than Hattie as there was plenty of “pushy pushy”.
The only thing that would have improved matters would be if they served beer but as the server said to me, you’re in Norway now, not England…
We took the metro back and then Hattie and Kieren went off for a maccies whilst Joss and I had a couple of beers then off for a curry
It was absolutely delicious despite the pic, taken after I’d started eating it
We made some sensible choices though and we back at the hotel just after 10 - I could do with a good kip
Despite the awful weather, it’s been a great day
