Day 16
Back to the slight lie in of a 9am breakfast and we managed to get seats on the upper level for the 3rd morning in a row
I know this kind of luck can’t continue so I need to enjoy it while I can as I don’t fancy my chances of carrying cereal and drinks down a set of stairs
First up today was a metro trip just the one stop to see if we could find any Harry Potter books for Hattie
We’d seen a bookstore the night before and thankfully they were well stocked so that met with Hattie’s requirement
Then it was back to the metro to finally see The Little Mermaid
Once again google maps tried to do me dirty by suggesting a sweet shop with the same name is where I needed to go but I was wise to its tricks and locked down exactly where we needed to go
It was about a 15 minute walk but we had to take a slight detour because if this sign says what I think it says I daren’t go down there with all the beer I’ve been drinking
And then we were finally there - weird that such an iconic sculpture is pretty much in the middle of nowhere
After that we decided to look for some luggage scales - which was more difficult and timely than you’d assume
We even “had” to stop for a beer as the search became tiring, and while we searched we did see a kebab shop that looked like it hadn’t made its mind up
Once acquired, however, we went somewhere that was hailed as the best sandwich shop in Copenhagen
They weren’t wrong
And when you consider that was just HALF my sandwich then you can see why I feel such pride in upholding the Gullis name by being the only one to finish
We were all pretty much finished after that so went back to the hotel for an hour to let the food settle properly
At which point Joss voted to stay back while the rest of us went in search of a new pub, as instructed by Kieren
We found this one
When I drank my beer, however, it was off so I took it back
The barman looked sceptical and so decided to try it himself - he spat it straight down the sink and was gracious enough to apologise
We went separate ways for dinner with Joss and I deciding to eat alfresco
It was bloody lovely
Hattie took Kieren just one metro stop away to Copenhagen’s finest Burger King and he really couldn’t have been happier
Now with all the beer we’ve been drinking, as well as putting on a substantial amount of weight, it’s been wise for me to not be far away from a clean toilet, if you know what I mean, so went decided on an early night
One last full day tomorrow and it’s go big AND go home … or is it get big and go home, both apply…
