It’s been frenetic but we have achieved the impossible
Now for the worst part, the final farewell to the Japanese toilet - how I will miss you …..
Unbelievably we left 4 minutes before the time we planned.
The road was empty and Joss drove like a trooper.
I may have got a bit snap happy….
Everything went well until the last mile and almost together, Joss and I said “I don’t recognise this”
And we were right to not recognise it - we ended up at the Heathrow Airport drop off area “somehow”. In the same way grandma “somehow” loses all her books on audible
Still, what made it better was Kieren in an incredibly patronising voice, congratulating Joss on going the right way after I’d swapped phones so the destination was the hotel
“Turn left here…..that’s good “ etc - really did calm Joss down ….
We arrived at the hotel and because of work there was nowhere to park
I asked at reception what we were to do and we had to go out of the premises and circle round the back, which we duly did.
Having dumped our bags we walked over to the White Horse where Joss found out that she had to pay £8 to drive through the Heathrow car park and then had to claim a refund
Blimey
We had a couple of drinks there before going back to the hotel and having some food before the Champions’ League football
My food was great but halfway through a better table (a table with a better view of the tv) became available so Hattie and I moved there and left the others to finish their meals
I had a great view
Well, I did
Still you have to make the most of what you’ve got
Kieren lasted until half time and we decided we could leave him in the room as long as he called me if he needed anything
Joss didn’t last too much longer so was only across the hallway anyway
Hattie and I stayed to watch the end of the footy before sending our ways
Tomorrow’s where the fun really starts
